Signage has been installed to alert highway traffic to the presence of pedestrians and bicyclers who cross from the Safety Path on the north side of the Sterling Hwy to the separated pathway on Snug Harbor Rd. This should help improve safety at this complex crossing where it can be difficult for traffic to see walkers and bikers in the area. There's a lot happening at this intersection with the church, emergency services, and the post office on one side and the State Park boat launch and businesses on the other. Traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian has increased in this area. We are grateful that the Department of Transportation has seen fit to install pedestrian alert signs to make traffic on the highway more aware of traffic on the pathways where the two "cross paths".
